Tomorrow Already is a place in the future, where every aspect of daily life is very different to how people in the place known as Still Today live. For example anger with other people is viewed as something completely natural. Methods of expressing this anger have therefore been developed.

The Film

One day Jakob sets off on a journey. He carries a cage on his back. The cage contains a pair of pigeons. Jakob wants to go to Tomorrow Already because he has heard that everything is better there. In Tomorrow Already he meets Benny, who is eight years old, a year younger than Jakob. Is the heavily pregnant master carpenter Britta the mother of Benny, Kathy or of both? In any case Hanno, the computer freak, her husband, repairs other people's computers. There is also Hella and Otto Fliege, who also live in the community. Hella is around 60 years old and earns her living with a shop. The community survives because everyone produces a specific good and then sells it. Otto Flieger is an inventor and loves pigeons, which makes him particularly interesting for Jakob. Tommy, the apprentice, can play the trumpet.

Jakob quickly settles in to this community. He learns that it is not bad to let your anger out and fight with your "opponent". But it has to be fair. Rules must be obeyed. After the fight the anger has been let out and everyone can be "good friends" again. Everyone in the community holds to this belief. Even Hella and Otto Fliege fight with each other. If you have a deep-seated anger, then you need to find the most direct method of getting rid of it. Otherwise the anger remains. And that leads to fear. After his experience with the people of Tomorrow Already Jakob can return home to his own parents. He has learned that it is right to stand up for yourself, even against adults.
